Parking a vehicle at a tight space has been a bugbear for every driver. Also, searching for a free parking space kills valuable time. Some commercially available cars have this unique feature installed in their vehicles, but what if we can install an inexpensive auto parking feature in our own car? In this project, I have hacked a radio controlled car with an Arduino and three ultrasonic sensors to add auto parking feature.

It was a toy grade radio controlled car without a servo-controlled steering mechanism. For a self-parking vehicle, precise steering control is vital, for which I removed the brushed motor based steering mechanism and installed a MG996R metal gear servo motor. The servo shaft has been mechanically installed with the center link of the steering wheels.
Currently, this self-parking vehicle can successfully do the parallel parking. I am working on the perpendicular and angle parking.
